NEW DELHI: HTCcreated quite a stir earlier this year when it launched the first smartphone with touch sensitive side bezels (called as Edge Sense), the HTC U 11. Now, it looks like the Taiwanese tech firm could soon bring a mid-range smartphone in the U 11 series along with the same Edge Sense feature in the form of HTC U Life 11.
Android Authority, citing a source, reports that HTC could launch its ‘U Life 11’ later this year. The website has also posted a leaked image of the smartphone, showing the front panel of the handset. From the front, the alleged U Life 11 looks identical to the U 11 as the same slim physical button below the screen with an embedded fingerprint sensor.
The device is supposed to feature a 5.2-inch full HD display, 16MP selfie camera and a 16MP rear-facing camera with phase-detection autofocus. Besides the ‘Edge Sense’ feature, the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor along with 32GB inbuilt storage, which may be also be extended using a microSD card.
Furthermore, the report says the HTC U Life 11 could come with IP67 certification and HTC USonic earbuds with active noise cancellation. The launch date of the smartphone hasn’t been revealed.
HTC recently made its HTC U11 Blue Sapphire variant available in India. At the time of the launch, the company made the handset available only in Amazing Silver and Brilliant Black colours. Internationally, the phone is available five colours – Amazing Silver, Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Black, Ice White, and Solar Red colour options.
The flagship U11’s highlight is its ‘squeezable’ side bezels. Running HTC Edge Sense user interface based on Android 7.1 Nougat, the smartphone comes with eight sensors on the side bezels to register the squeeze. These sensors are integrated with the Edge Sense and lets users long press to launch any app. The feature can be customized by modifying settings.
