NEW DELHI: Earlier this year at the CES 2017 trade show, Asus outlined its plans for the augmented reality market by launching its Zenfone ARsmartphone. Since the announcement, there has been a lull around The device which supports Google’s Tango and Daydream augmented reality capabilities. However, after teasing the device on social media last month, Asus has finally revealed a launch date — July 13 — through the press invites sent to the media.
The invite reads, “Push the boundaries of your imagination”, indicating the smartphone’s ability to showcase AR-based content. Previously, the company let out a teaser on Facebook, stating they are ready to “change the way you see smartphones. The world’s first 8GB RAM phone is all set to land in India.”
The Asus Zenfone AR features a 5.7-inch AMOLED WQHD screen with 2,560×1,440 resolution (79% body to screen ratio). The display is also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The smartphone’s processing power is taken care by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, which is not the latest in the series, but powerful enough to carry AR-based functionalities.
