Facebook launches a new feature that takes you down the memory lane

Human brain can store a huge amount of data which includes past memories as well but sometimes it becomes hard to recall all your memories and their key details. It looks like Facebook has a solution to this now with its all-new “ Memories” page, a one-stop solution to all your shared memories with your friends and family in the past.

This feature is an expansion of “On the Day” feature, which allows you to go through your current date, last year or years prior along with recaps of your shared memories.

The Memories section will include many other things apart from the On this day content such as Friends Made on This Day with special videos and collages to celebrate your “friendversaries, seasonal or monthly recaps to make people remember their happy moments of life along with a small video ready for sharing. It will also filter out negative posts based on the reactions and comments.

Users will also have the access to dismiss stories from their News Feed and they can also completely block this feature or block out few specific people, a specific date or date range in the preference section of the page.

In an announcement, Facebook Product Manager, Oren Hod wrote that “We know that memories are deeply personal — and they’re not all positive. We try to listen to feedback and design these features so that they’re thoughtful and offer people the right controls that are easy to access,”

Memories section can be accessed by “Memories bookmark” from the left of the news feed on Desktop and in the “more” tab at the bottom right of the mobile app. Or you can simply visit www.facebook.com/memories
