Tesla Founder and CEO, Elon Musk, has announced that his CFO, Deepak Ahuja, is retiring from the company, effectively ending the automaker’s plans of launching its electric cars in India. Ahuja is believed to have been studying the feasibility of running electric vehicles on Indian roads.
As part of Musk’s plans to bring his electric cars to India, Ahuja is said to have flown in to the country a couple of times in recent years, seeking to know from the government and other key stakeholders whether there is a will to let Tesla enter India.
In May last year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he would still love to roll out Tesla electric cars in India, government regulations permitting. “Deepak Ahuja, our CFO, is from India. Tesla will be there as soon as he believes we should,” Musk had said.
