Apple’s much-awaited iPhone X is finally here. The company’s tenth-anniversary edition iPhone has surely impressed most Apple fans. However, what has not gone well with many is its price tag. At Rs 1,02,000 for 256GB, the Apple iPhone X sets new high for mainstream smartphones’ pricing. The starting price of Rs 89,000 too makes it the most expensive iPhone launched so far.

At the price tag of Rs 67,000, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the second-most expensive smartphone in India currently. The price difference of almost Rs 21,000 is surely huge. Especially since Galaxy Note 8 too is a flagship smartphone and boasts of several similar if not exact specifications.

But then, as many may point out, Apple iPhone X is special edition iPhone. So, we will only get the answer once the sales figures of the two smartphones start trickling in.

As for Apple, the company seems really bullish on the Indian market for iPhone X. For this is the first time that an Apple iPhone is launching in India in the first sale wave itself. iPhone X will go on pre-order in India on October 27, the same day as it goes in 55 other countries globally. The sales for the smartphone will start on November 3.

The other two iPhones — iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus — launched at the September 12 Apple event too are not going on sale in India in the first wave. In the US and some other countries, both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will go on sale on September 22. The pre-orders for the same will start on September 15. In India, the launch date for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is September 29, while the pre-order date is September 15.

To recall, Apple iPhone X is the only one of the three new iPhones launched (other being iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus) to have a 5.8-inch OLED display. It features Apple’s highest resolution phone display: 2436 x 1125 pixels at 458 pixels per inch density (ppi). The company has termed this Super Retina display. The HDR display also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10.
The smartphone comes with an all-glass front and back. It features what Apple claims is “the most durable glass ever in a smartphone in silver or space gray, while a highly polished, surgical-grade stainless steel band seamlessly wraps around and reinforces iPhone X….”

The all-new iPhone X bids goodbye to Home Button. The TouchID has been replaced by FaceID in the smartphone. This means that there’s no fingerprint sensor in iPhone X. iPhone X uses facial recognition to unlock the device. Users can set up FaceID by letting their iPhone X make a detailed digital “map” of their face. Apple claims that FaceID is a lot easier and safer. According to the company, there’s a one in a million chance of someone being able to ‘hack’ your phone. FaceID is said to run on ‘neural engine’ powered by the company’s A11 Bionic processor.
