NEW DELHI: HMD Global has launched its fifth smartphone of the year, Nokia 2 in India. The handset is the cheapest in the series and is aimed for those who are looking for all the basic features required in a handset. It sports a metal frame along with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection at the front and a polycarbonate body at the back.
Interested buyers can get Nokia 2 in three colour variants – Copper Black, Pewter Black and White starting mid-November. It will retail at an average global price of EUR 99 (roughly Rs 7,500). However, speculation suggests the smartphone’s price in India to be around Rs 6,999.
Nokia 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and will soon be getting Android 8.0 Oreo. It sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution LTPS screen with 16:9 aspect ratio. HMD Global claims the smartphone to feature a 4100mAh battery, which can run for 2 days. Powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor, Nokia 2 supports 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.
With Nokia 2, users get a 5MP front-facing fixed focus camera and an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash. They also get Google Assistant. Connectivity options of the smartphone include GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, FM Radio and Bluetooth. It measures 143.5×71.3×9.30mm and supports dual SIM cards (Nano).
