NEW DELHI: OnePlus is all set to discontinue its five-month-old smartphone, OnePlus 3T. The smartphone, as confirmed by one of the company employees on the OnePlus forum posts, has reached its end of production line.
“This is the last call to buy the OnePlus 3T before stock runs out. Only a few devices are left in our warehouse, so purchase yours before time runs out at onepl.us/3T,” said Steven G, a OnePlus forum staff member.
The news is likely to disappoint several customers who purchased the OnePlus 3T smartphone that was launched roughly five months ago in December 2016.
Incidentally, the company also discontinued its almost six-month-old flagship OnePlus 3 when it launched OnePlus 3T. The company launched OnePlus 3 in June 2016.
However, earlier this week, both Qualcomm and OnePlus confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 5 will run on Snapdragon 835, claimed to be the most ‘powerful’ mobile processor available right now.
The announcement appears to be aimed at making way for its upcoming flagship OnePlus 5. The smartphone is rumoured to launch next month. The company has on its part not revealed anything about the smartphone’s launch date yet.
“With the OnePlus 5, our commitment to this philosophy continues. We’re proud to announce the OnePlus 5 will feature the Snapdragon 835 processor, which sets the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance. With graphically-demanding apps, for example, you’ll notice how fast they load and how well they run,” said Pete Lau, CEO, OnePlus, in a post on the company’s forum.
UPDATE : OnePlus told that the OnePlus 3T 64GB and 128GB will be available until later this year in India from oneplusstore.in, Amazon.in and the OnePlus Experience Store in Bangalore. The official statement says, “The OnePlus 3T (both 64GB and 128GB variants) will continue to be available for purchase in India until later this year. OnePlus products and accessories are available through all three official sales channels, including oneplusstore.in, Amazon.in and the OnePlus Experience Store in Bangalore.”
