NEW DELHI: It looks like Samsung may have unknowingly spilled some beans on the camera of its Samsung Galaxy Note 8, just weeks ahead of its official launch. The Galaxy Note 8’s camera is said to be supplied by the company’s own division – Samsung Electro-Mechanics or SEM. And SEM on its website has posted a couple of features that its new dual camera setup can carry. For those unaware, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will reportedly be the first Samsung handset to come with dual rear cameras. The camera sensors mentioned by the SEM on its website are likely to show up in the Galaxy Note 8 as well.

The Samsung SEM website shows one of the features that its dual camera module will be able to carry – Smart Zoom. From the looks of it ,’Smart Zoom’ feature will make use of one of the lenses, which may be a telephoto zoom lens. The resulting image is expected to be sharper than standard telephoto zoom lenses and slightly more saturated.

Furthermore, the dual camera setup will also be able to capture more light at night, resulting in brighter images. In terms of HDR or High Dynamic Range, each of the two modules may click an image each and merge it together to deliver a stable brightness and contrast levels. Another major feature seen is refocusing of subjects inside an image. This feature may be present while clicking an image or after it has been shot. Perspective View and Background Effect are also mentioned in the feature list.

For now it is not clear if the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will come with all these features or just with some of them. We would have to wait for August 23 when the phablet will see the light of the day. The main event will take place in Park Avenue Armory, New York at 11AM EST (8.30PM IST). The event will also be live streamed on
